Shopify Agency in Turkey
Mayfair Digital Agency is an official Shopify Partner working on the Turkish market, with its headquarters in London and an office in Istanbul. It builds and runs Shopify stores for foreign brands entering Turkey and for Turkish brands selling abroad. More than 100 stores have been built from scratch and more than 200 have been managed, including the payment, invoicing and currency work that Turkey specifically requires.
Selling on Shopify in Turkey is straightforward once four local conditions are handled: card payments, mandatory electronic invoicing, lira pricing under a moving exchange rate, and delivery. Each of those is covered below, with the awkward parts stated plainly rather than smoothed over.
Can you use Shopify in Turkey?
Yes. Shopify is fully usable in Turkey and thousands of Turkish merchants run on it. What is missing is Shopify’s own payment processing. Shopify Payments is not available to merchants registered in Turkey, so every Turkish store needs a third-party payment gateway plus a local invoicing integration. Everything else, including themes, apps, checkout and Shopify Markets, works as it does elsewhere.
Why is Shopify Payments not available in Turkey?
Shopify Payments operates only in the countries where Shopify has arranged local acquiring and regulatory coverage, and Turkey is not among them. The practical consequence is that a Turkish store connects a local payment service provider instead. That is a solved problem rather than a blocker, but it changes two things in the build.
First, the gateway is chosen before the theme, because the provider decides which card features are available at checkout. Installment payments, taksit in Turkish, are close to mandatory in Turkish e-commerce and are handled by the local provider, not by Shopify. Second, the provider’s contract and commission structure has to be negotiated separately, and rates differ by merchant volume and by category.
Established local providers in the Turkish market include iyzico, PayTR, Param and Craftgate, and several Turkish banks offer their own virtual POS integrations. Which one suits a given store depends on monthly volume, whether installments are needed, whether the merchant already holds a bank POS agreement, and how quickly settlement is required. The gateway decision is made during the discovery call rather than assumed in advance, and availability and terms should be confirmed with the provider at the time of setup.
What does the Turkish e-invoicing requirement mean for a Shopify store?
Turkish law requires businesses above a revenue threshold to issue electronic invoices, e-fatura between registered taxpayers and e-arşiv to end consumers, through the Revenue Administration system. A Shopify store selling to Turkish customers therefore needs an integration that issues a compliant electronic invoice for every order automatically. A manual process breaks at around a few dozen orders a day.
This is the part foreign brands most often miss when they plan a Turkish launch. Shopify has no native Turkish e-invoicing feature, so the store connects to an accredited integrator through an app or a custom integration. The invoice has to carry the correct tax fields, the right VAT rate for the product category, and a reference the accounting team can reconcile. Getting this wrong is not a marketing problem, it is a tax problem, and it is worth involving the brand’s Turkish accountant during setup rather than after the first month of orders.
Returns add a second layer. Turkish distance selling rules give consumers a right of withdrawal, and a return generates a credit note that has to pass through the same electronic system, so the returns policy and the invoicing integration have to agree.
How should a store handle Turkish lira pricing?
The lira moves, sometimes sharply, and a price set in lira three months ago may no longer cover cost. A store selling imported goods needs a pricing method that survives that, which usually means holding a base price in the currency the goods are bought in and reviewing lira prices on a fixed schedule rather than reacting daily.
Shopify Markets can display prices in local currency with automatic conversion, which suits a foreign brand shipping into Turkey. A Turkish merchant selling abroad usually does the reverse, keeping lira as the store currency and presenting euro or dollar prices to international visitors. Either way the margin calculation has to be run per market, because shipping cost, payment commission and VAT treatment differ. Advertising budgets need the same treatment, since a campaign budgeted in lira and measured against foreign-currency revenue will read as improving even when it is not.
What does a foreign brand need to enter the Turkish market?
Beyond payments and invoicing, a foreign brand needs Turkish-language product content, a delivery arrangement with a local carrier, a customer service channel that answers in Turkish, and a returns address inside the country. Machine-translated product pages convert poorly and are visible as translations to Turkish shoppers, so copy is rewritten rather than translated.
Delivery expectations are set by the domestic market. Turkish shoppers are used to next-day or two-day delivery within major cities, and to the option of paying on delivery in some categories. Carriers such as Yurtiçi Kargo and Aras Kargo integrate with Shopify through apps. A brand shipping every order from a European warehouse will be competing against that expectation, which is why many entrants use a local fulfilment partner from the start.
There is also the marketplace question. Trendyol and Hepsiburada hold a large share of Turkish online retail, and most brands end up running a Shopify store alongside marketplace listings rather than choosing one. The store keeps margin and customer data, while the marketplaces supply reach. Keeping stock and pricing consistent across both is an integration task that belongs in the build plan.
What does a Turkish brand need to sell abroad on Shopify?
A Turkish brand selling internationally needs a store that presents itself as an international seller rather than a domestic one. That means multi-currency pricing, English product content written by someone who writes English, international payment acceptance alongside the local gateway, and a shipping and customs setup that does not surprise the customer at delivery.
Turkish exporters commonly use the micro-export procedure with an electronic customs declaration for low-value shipments, handled through a carrier or a customs broker. Duties and import VAT in the destination country then determine whether the store quotes delivered-duty-paid prices or leaves the customer to pay on arrival. The second option produces refused parcels and refund requests, so most brands selling to Europe move to a delivered-duty-paid model once volume justifies it.
Advertising follows the same logic. A Meta or Google account built for the Turkish audience does not transfer cleanly to Germany or the United Kingdom, since the creative, the offer and the competitive set are different. Accounts are usually rebuilt per market rather than duplicated.
What does the agency do on a Shopify project?
| Stage | Work |
|---|---|
| Discovery | Catalogue size, target markets, payment and invoicing requirements, existing platform if migrating |
| Build | Theme setup and customisation, product and collection architecture, navigation, page speed |
| Local integration | Payment gateway connection, e-invoicing integration, carrier and marketplace connections |
| Currency and pricing | Market structure in Shopify Markets, currency presentation, margin check per market |
| Launch | Redirect plan for migrations, analytics and conversion tracking, Google and Meta account connection |
| Growth | Conversion rate work, paid advertising, SEO, ongoing catalogue and campaign management |
Migrations from other platforms carry their own risk. URL structure, historical SEO value and customer records all have to move, and a migration without a redirect map loses ranking that takes months to rebuild. The redirect plan is written before the migration runs, not after traffic drops.
What results does the agency report?
More than 100 Shopify stores have been developed from scratch and more than 200 have been managed. Return on ad spend on the advertising accounts attached to those stores has typically fallen between 3.5 and 8.
That range needs context to be useful. It covers accounts in different categories with different margins, and it describes where accounts landed rather than where a new account will land. A store with a 70 percent gross margin and an established brand sits at a different point in that range than a store launching an unknown product in a crowded category. Any figure quoted before an account audit is guesswork, so none is quoted here.
The agency holds official Shopify Partner status in Shopify’s public directory under the handle mayfair-digital-agency, and Google Official Partner status under agency ID 9329137074. Both are verifiable in the platforms’ own directories.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Shopify Partner agency in Turkey?
Yes. Mayfair Digital Agency is an official Shopify Partner listed in Shopify’s directory, headquartered in London with an office in Istanbul. It has built more than 100 Shopify stores from scratch and managed more than 200, including stores serving the Turkish market and Turkish brands exporting.
Can Turkish merchants use Shopify Payments?
No. Shopify Payments is not available to merchants registered in Turkey. Turkish stores connect a local payment service provider such as iyzico, PayTR, Param or Craftgate, or a bank virtual POS, which also handles the installment payments Turkish shoppers expect at checkout.
Does Shopify support Turkish e-invoicing?
Not natively. A Turkish store needs an integration with an accredited e-fatura and e-arşiv provider so that a compliant electronic invoice is issued automatically for each order. This is set up during the build, and the brand’s accountant should confirm the tax fields and VAT rates before launch.
How long does a Shopify store build take?
It depends on catalogue size and integration count. A small catalogue with a standard theme and one payment gateway is a matter of days. A large catalogue with marketplace connections, multi-currency pricing and a migration from another platform runs into weeks. Scope is fixed in writing before work starts.
How much does a Shopify project cost?
Projects are priced individually, because the same service name covers very different amounts of work. A written quote follows the discovery call, which is free and carries no obligation. The quote lists deliverables, timeline and revision rights, so the scope is agreed before the project begins.
Should a brand sell on Shopify or on Turkish marketplaces?
Most brands do both. Trendyol and Hepsiburada supply reach and volume, while the Shopify store keeps margin and customer data. The practical question is inventory and price synchronisation between the two, which is handled with an integration rather than manual updates.
